To vote in California, you must be:
- At least 18 years old by election day
- 18 by June 5, 2012, you can vote in the Primary Election AND General Election
- 18 by November 6, 2012, you can only vote in the General Election
- A US Citizen
- A California resident
- Not in prison or on parole for a felony
- Not declared mentally incompetent by court action
- Register to vote BEFORE May 21, 2012 (For June 5 Primary Election)

Postcard registration forms are available at the Registrar of Voters’ Office, U.S.Post Offices, Public Libraries, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and other government offices.
How to Re-Register to Vote
You must complete a new Voter Registration Form:
- If you are registering to vote for the first time
- If you have moved to Santa Clara County from a different county
- To change your name
- To change your political party affiliation

Complete a Voter Action Request Form if you are already registered to vote in Santa Clara County and you want to:
- Change your address (if you moved within Santa Clara County) or mailing address
- Change your language preference (English, Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese)
- Sign up for Permanent Vote by Mail status
- Correct misspellings or other errors in your registration information
